Crews and the Crew Mode Map
What is a Crew?
A Crew is a group of friends who use YayOrNay to chat, make plans and connect with other Crews.
Why can't I see Crews?
Update YayOrNay, then tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences and look for the Crews card. If it still does not appear, Crews is not available for your account or area right now.
How do I create or join a Crew?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, open the Crews card and open the Crew picker. Choose Create a crew and add the requested details, or choose Join a crew and enter a valid invitation code.
What can Crew members do?
All active Crew members can edit the Crew profile, invite people and manage Crew meets and proposals. The Crew owner also has membership and ownership controls.
What is a Crew owner?
Each Crew has one owner, shown by a gold crown beside their name in the member list. The owner can remove members, promote another active member to owner and disband the Crew when they are the only member left.
What is a Crew meet?
A Crew meet is a plan with a time, activity, location and selected attendees. Nearby Crews can find the meet and send a proposal to join it.
Can I browse the Crew Mode Map without joining a Crew?
Yes. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews to browse the Crew Mode Map and nearby Happenings without a Crew. Open the Crew picker and join or create a Crew when you want to open Crew details and send proposals.
Why does the Crew Mode Map need location access?
Location access helps the Crew Mode Map show nearby plans and relevant map details. Enable it to get the most out of Crews, including discovery and proposals.
Can everyone see my exact location on the Crew Mode Map?
No. Crew meets are shown as an approximate area on the Crew Mode Map, not an exact location.
Connecting with other Crews
What happens after another Crew accepts our proposal?
We connect both Crews and open a shared meet chat where everyone can coordinate the meet.
Why can't I send a proposal without a Crew?
Crew proposals are for groups of friends to find and connect with other groups of friends. Join or create a Crew first, then open an available meet on the Crew Mode Map to send a proposal.
How do I report someone or flag a problem in a Crew?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and the Crew or shared chat. Open the relevant member's profile and choose Safety Measures → Report to open the Report Center. Follow the guided steps to submit your report.
Crew membership and settings
Can I join more than one Crew?
Yes, until you reach the Crew limit shown for your account. Premium accounts have more Crew slots.
Why doesn't my Crew invitation work?
The invite code is invalid or expired. Ask a Crew member to create a new invitation.
How do I leave a Crew?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and the Crew picker. Select the Crew, tap in the top-left corner of the Crew card and choose Leave. If you are the owner and other members remain, promote another member to owner before leaving. If you are the only member left, the settings show Disband instead of Leave.
How do I remove a member from a Crew?
Only the Crew owner can remove another member. Open the Crew, find the member in the member list, tap the kick control beside their name and confirm. The removed member loses access to the Crew's chats and meets.
How do I promote another member to Crew owner?
Only the current Crew owner can do this. Open the Crew, find the member in the member list, tap the crown control beside their name and confirm. They become the new owner and you become a regular member.
How do I disband a Crew?
The Disband control appears when the owner is the only active member left. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and the Crew picker. Select the Crew, tap in the top-left corner of the Crew card, choose Disband and confirm. Disbanding removes the Crew and cannot be undone.
Can I change a Crew's name, photo, or description?
Yes. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and select the Crew. Tap in the top-left corner of the Crew card, update the available name, photo or description fields and save.
Who can see my Crew's profile?
Nearby users can see the Crew details shown in discovery. Do not add private contact details or addresses.
Who can read Crew messages?
Only conversation participants can open Crew messages in the app. Keep sensitive information out of group chat.
Crew proposals, meets and messages
Can I cancel or change a Crew proposal?
The current Crew screen does not provide an edit or cancel control for an outgoing proposal after it is sent. If the other Crew accepts, open the shared meet to manage the resulting plan.
Who can create a Crew meet?
Any active Crew member can create a meet for their Crew. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews, select the Crew and choose the create-meet action. Select the attending members, time and meetup point before publishing it.
Why can't I create another Crew meet?
Your Crew may already have an active meet. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Open active meet to review or end it before trying Create meet again.
Can I edit or end a Crew meet?
Yes. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and the meet you created. Choose Meet Settings. You can update the available details or end the meet. A start time cannot be changed after the meet begins.
Where can I see Crew notifications?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, open Crews and tap . Use All, Unread or Read to filter the list.
How do I mark a Crew notification as read?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and the Crew-notifications inbox. Open the notification; its unread indicator clears after it is opened.
Finding Happenings
What are Happenings on YayOrNay?
Happenings are nearby events you can discover from Crews. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open a listing for its current details and ticket options.
How do I find Happenings near me?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Allow location access so the map can show events around you.
Can I browse Happenings without a Crew?
Yes. You can browse nearby Happenings without joining a Crew. You need a Crew to mark the group as Interested or Going.
How do I search for a Happening?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Tap , search by event or venue name and move the map if you want results in another area.
How do I filter Happenings?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open Filters and narrow the results with When, Price or Category.
Which Happening categories can I browse?
You can browse music, food, nightlife, culture, sports and other categories shown in the app.
Crew responses to Happenings
How do I mark my Crew as Interested or Going?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open the event, choose Your Crew, then select Interested or Going. When choosing Going, select the Crew members who will attend.
Can I change my Crew's Happening response?
Yes. Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open the event and update the Crew status or attending members. Choose Not Going to remove the Going response.
Happening tickets and changes
How do I buy a Happening ticket?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open the event. If the listing includes a ticket offer, choose Buy, then check the seller and final price before paying.
How do I know whether a Happening is free?
Tap in the bottom navigation to open Experiences, then open Crews and choose Show nearby happenings. Open the event. Its listing shows Free, Paid or Price TBA; check the current price details before making plans.
Does marking Going reserve a ticket?
No. Going is an RSVP for your Crew. You only have a ticket after completing the ticket checkout and receiving confirmation.
Where is my Happening ticket?
Open the purchase confirmation or ticket link sent by the ticket seller after checkout. If you paid but received no ticket, use the seller contact on the receipt. For a broken YayOrNay link, tap in the bottom navigation to open the Account page, tap , then choose Report a bug.
How do I check in with a Happening ticket?
Open the ticket when you arrive and show the ticket code or QR code to authorised event staff. Do not share that code before check-in.
Can I give my ticket to someone else?
Only when the ticket screen allows you to assign or transfer the ticket holder. A screenshot does not change ticket ownership.
What happens if a Happening changes or is cancelled?
Use the latest event details and organiser notice. For a paid ticket, follow the cancellation or refund instructions from the seller shown on your receipt.
Can YayOrNay guarantee that every Happening detail is correct?
No. Event details can change. Check the latest listing and organiser information before travelling.
How do I report an incorrect or unsafe Happening?
YayOrNay does not currently show a dedicated report control on every Happening. Tap in the bottom navigation to open the Account page, tap , then choose Send us feedback. Include the event name and what is incorrect or unsafe.
